R.G. Etheridge of Vicksburg, MS, formerly of Amite County, passed away peacefully at his home on October 27, 2025.
R.G. was born August 14,1948, in Amite County, MS to Russell Etheridge and Virgie Whittington Etheridge. He was married to the love of his life Hilda Walker Etheridge until her death in 2018. They were married for 51 years. They had three children together, Rusty, Tammy, and Suzie; six grandchildren; Kristine, Cyndal, Megan, Cody, Joseph and Asia; and one great grandson Blaise. There was nothing that he loved more than his grandchildren, great grandson, and fishing.
R.G. was a retired carpenter. In his retirement years he enjoyed selling tomatoes and his boiled peanuts and visiting with the folks of Greenville, MS and Vicksburg. He loved his customers as much as they loved him. He will be missed by many
R.G. is preceded in death by his parents Russell and Virgie Etheridge, his wife Hilda Walker Etheridge, one daughter Tammy Etheridge Smith, two brothers Michael (Mike) Etheridge and Joe Etheridge, and his sister-in-law Johnette Etheridge.
He is survived by his son Rusty Etheridge (Julie) of New Blaine, Arkansas; his daughter Suzie Etheridge (Matthew) of Vicksburg; grandchildren Kristine Keller (James) of Lamar Arkansas, Cyndal Smith (Bryan) of Millington, TN, Megan Hensley (Trip) of Forest City Arkansas, Cody Smith (Anna-Clair) of Ellisville MS, Joseph
Etheridge of New Blaine, Arkansas and Asia Etheridge of Vicksburg, MS; and great grandson Blaise Kistler of Millington, TN; two brothers Jim Etheridge of Laurel, MS, and Tommy Etheridge (Jody) of Homochitto, one sister Jan Anders of Gloster, sisters-in-law Carolyn Johnson of Natchez, MS and Ann Cox of Bude, MS; and
a special cousin that he loved as a brother Kenny Whittington of Central, LA and a host of nieces and nephews that he loved as his own.
A memorial service will be held at Royal Chapel Church in Gloster, MS on November 8, 2025 with visitation 10:00am-11:00am followed by the service at 11:00am.
