Clarence Radcliffe (Rad) Styron, III, 86, died On October 27, 2025, at his home. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Linda D. Jones Styron, and his three daughters: Tracy Chaney, Carla (James) Watson, and Leila (Bobby) Kackley. He also leaves behind three sisters: Carolyn (Lyn) Speights, Sue Ann (Mike) Booth, and Judy McNamara; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Rad was born in October of 1939, to Clarence Radcliffe, Jr. and Carolyn O’Neil Styron. He graduated from St. Aloysius High School and earned a degree in civil engineering from Mississippi State University. After serving 2 years in the United States Navy, he went to work for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers until after more than 30 years, he retired in 1996. After becoming bored in retirement, he resumed his career with the Mississippi Department of Transportation and retired for a second time in 2007.
He enjoyed water skiing, camping, boating, and fishing. He and wife Linda played cards for many years with a group of friends, and he played dominoes regularly with the same group of men. He also loved reading (especially westerns), ice cream and Whoppers, and had a wonderful sense of humor.
Visitation is at Glenwood Funeral Home from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. The funeral Mass will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church at 11 am on October 30.
