The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks announced that the 2026 spring wild turkey season will open March 14 and run through May 3.
According to the department, the extension of the season follows state law, which allows the season to continue through the weekend when the closing date falls on a Friday.
Under Mississippi Code §49-7-31.2(c), when the open wild turkey season ends on a Friday, the season extends until 30 minutes after sunset on the following Sunday. Officials said the provision applies to this year’s season dates.
The extension does not increase or otherwise affect the annual bag limit for hunters.
