Muddy River Madness

Muddy River Madness 4 will take over The B.B. Club this Saturday, May 2, for a full day of metal and heavy music acts across the South.

The all-afternoon event, with doors opening at 2 p.m., will feature 13 bands across two stages. Brandon Bishop, one of the event’s organizers, said the show began in 2022 as a small local showcase and has since expanded into a regional underground heavy music gathering.

“This will be our 5th Muddy River Madness,” Bishop said. “We originally started this in 2022 by renting the city pavilion to even have a place to play our local original music in Vicksburg. We only had four bands that year, one from Jackson (Kicking) along with three Vicksburg bands (Chief City, Death Throes From a Star, and Beneath the Kudzu).”

After three consecutive years at the city pavilion, the group behind the “Madness” took a break in 2025 and returns in 2026 with a larger lineup and a new venue.

“The event has grown in such a way that now we have 13 bands coming to play in one of the nicest venues in Vicksburg, The B.B. Club,” Bishop said. “Bands will be traveling from Arkansas, Louisiana, and Alabama to visit our city. Our events are always all ages. The Rolling Mare will be serving up local Vicksburg food during the event.”

Alex Raynor of Ink Culture Tattoo will be on hand offering custom tattoos during the event.

Saturday’s line-up includes: Hexxus, Gravemember, Plagueburner, Beneath the Kudzu, Encircled Throne, Exorcism, Totem, Direwolf, The Sky Imposed Its Will …, Facerot, Dreams Without Colour and Rabid Venom.

Raffle tickets will be sold for $5 each or five for $20, with prizes including guitar pedals, a $300 Sweetwater gift card and more.
